Volunteer at RISE
We welcome caring, committed volunteers who want to support children in East Palo Alto. Our mentors work with students one-on-one and in small groups, offering encouragement, academic support, and enrichment activities. We provide training and simple tools to help mentors connect with students, spark curiosity, and strengthen learning in ways that feel engaging and fun.
If you’re excited to build relationships and uplift young learners, we’d love to have you join us.
Requirements
Commit to at least one semester as a mentor for RISE
Commit to at least one day a week (3:30 - 6:00pm)
Get fingerprinted
Attend a one-hour training session before your start date
Responsibilities
Work with individual students to enhance their skills and help in areas of struggle
Use your training and creativity to lead small group lessons (3-4 students)
Inspire confidence and provide positive feedback and encouragement
